I make HoverScribble
The story behind HoverScribble, and what I care about.
HoverScribble started with a real problem. A game designer I know needed to draw on the screen while working, and so did I. I volunteer with high school students in physics, engineering, software, and programming, and I kept wanting a fast, clean way to annotate, point, and explain right on top of whatever was on screen. Nothing out there felt quite right, so I built it. Then I kept widening it to cover more of the situations people actually run into.
A bit about me
I trained as a physicist. The shift into software happened gradually, after a couple of projects, though honestly I was always drawn to it. There's something I love about building a virtual product, an idea that becomes a real, working thing people can use. These days I mostly build software, full stack and robotics, and HoverScribble is one of several projects in motion. More are planned, both software and physical products. It's a solo operation, just me writing the code, fixing the bugs, and reading your messages, which is why you'll always reach a real person and not a ticket number.
What I believe
My core belief is simple: things should be fair and give real value. When you pay for a piece of software like this, you're paying for something that doesn't need to keep costing me to run. I still update and improve it, of course, but technically nothing about HoverScribble running on your computer costs me a cent per user. So why would I charge you every month for it? You buy it once and it's yours. I absolutely want to make a living from this, but the goal is to make it genuinely worthwhile for you, to save you time and money, not to lock you into a subscription you'll forget to cancel.
